There is a wealth of census and family information, and so much more, available from our HeritageQuest Online database.  You can access it here at the library or at home - or any other place where you can connect to Wi-Fi.  This is how our New York State counties looked in 1790!

Krafty Kids on Tuesday

Dennis Hogan will be presenting "Searching U.S. Records for Your Immigrant Ancestor" at noon on Tuesday, May 16th.  Dennis has been working on his family genealogy since 1977, and has spoken on the topic since 2003 (with a special interest in New York State and Ireland).  He is currently the Town of Gorham Historian and is a Past President of the Town of Gorham Historical Society.

We're partnering with Driving-Tests.org, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, to offer free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests to library patrons. "The weather outside is frightful," and it's keeping us closed for a second day.  Please stay off the roads if you can!  If you'll be inside all day, start learning a new language using one of our Mango language courses, or learn more about your family by searching our HeritageQuest Online or the newspaper archive.  Of course, you can never go wrong just curling up with a good book!

Snow Day Tuesday, March 14

The Sodus Central School District is closed due to the winter storm, so the library will not be opening today.  Please don't get out on the roads to return our materials!  After the storm we'll backdate your returns, and no fines will be charged for today.  If you can get online, you'll still have access to our OWWL catalog, your account, our digital newspapers, HeritageQuest Online, Zinio magazines, and OWWL2go downloadable audiobooks and eBooks.

315 Reminder

Our phone won't ring unless you dial 315-483-9292!

Starting Saturday, February 12th, mandatory 10-digit dialing will begin for those of us within the existing 315 area code. This is because of the addition of the new 680 overlapping area code. From now on, when you're calling the library, you'll need to remember to dial all ten digits:  315-483-9292

Weather Closing

Unfortunately, Mother Nature does not like our chocolate sale!  Because of the snow storm, the library is closed today, February 10th.  We will adjust due dates, so please don't get out on the roads to make returns.  As always, you will be able to access your OWWL account, our catalog, OWWL2go downloadable eBooks and audiobooks, Zinio magazines, and our archive of digital newspapers.  Valentine sale leftovers will be available for sale on Saturday.

Weather Closing Library

The library is closing at 4 this afternoon (Tuesday, January 10th) due to the freezing rain and deteriorating road conditions. The Saints & Sinners program scheduled for this evening has been postponed until 6:30 on Tuesday, January 24th. We will not charge any overdue fines on materials that are due today. Stay safe!
