Book Club Meets October 25th

Stop by and pick up a copy this week - you still have time to read this month's choice.

Then join us at noon on Thursday, October 25th, for a great discussion.  Looking ahead, we'll be reading Finding Jack by Gareth Crocker for November, skipping December, and in January reading Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea (Writers & Books "If All of Rochester Read the Same Book" 2013 choice).

Upcoming Book Review

There are just a few spots left for Jean Seymour's book review, so stop by or give us a call as soon as possible if you want to join us (and if you've ever heard one of Jean's reviews, I know that you do want to join us!). The program will at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16th, here at the library. I hope you can also stay afterwards for the monthly meeting of our Friends group.

Library Board Meets Thursday

The monthly meeting of the Sodus Community Library Board of Trustees will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 11th, in our meeting room.  Board meetings are open to the public.

Holiday Closing

The Library will be closed Monday, October 8th, for Columbus Day.  You will still be able to access your OWWL account, our catalog, and OWWL2go downloadable audiobooks and eBooks.

Harvest Fest 2012

What a great day we had for Saturday's Harvest Fest!  Our Friends group had a very successful booth, sharing library information and distributing paperbacks and children's books for a donation.  Everyone from preschool age through high school was encouraged to enter a free book drawing.  The winners are:

Banned Books Week

This week marks the 30th anniversary of Banned Books Week.  Celebrate your freedom to read!

Family Fun Pack Winner

Zachary Warner is the winner of our Dream BIG - Read! Family Fun Pack.  Summer reading participants kept track of the time they spent reading, and then submitted a Time Tracker each week.  Each Tracker was a ticket for the Fun Pack drawing.  Congratulations, Zach!

The monthly meeting of the Sodus Community Library Board of Trustees will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 13th, in the library meeting room.  Board meetings are open to the public.

OWWL2go Classes Offered

Lots of you have had questions about using OWWL2go on different devices, so we've scheduled classes by Ron Kirsop and Wendy Freier from our central library, Geneva Public Library, to help.  Classes are tailored to your specific device.

Class choices for Kindle users:  September 19, 4-5:30 p.m. or September 26, 5:30-7 p.m.

Class choices for Nook users (and anyone else using Adobe Digital Editions:  September 19, 5:30-7 p.m. or September 26, 4-5:30 p.m.

Reservations are required, so call or stop by the library soon!

Holiday Closing

The Sodus Community Library will be closed Labor Day weekend - Saturday, September 1st through Monday, September 3rd.  We will reopen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4th.

Have I Read That?

That's the question we are asked more than almost any other.  Now, thanks to our Evergreen update, you will be able to keep track of all the books you borrow.  Just log in to your OWWL account, click on the Account Preferences tab, click on the Search Preferences sub-tab, check the box "Keep history of checked out items?," click on the Save button, and you'll have a record of everything you borrow starting from that moment.

Our computer upgrade is done, and we're running pretty smoothly today.  I've heard from a couple of people that they've had problems connecting to their account.  The update may have prevented you from accessing your information over the weekend, and possibly part of yesterday.  If you're still having problems today, please check your bookmark; the correct one is
