Book Sale!

Our annual used book sale starts Thursday, November 5th.  Our Friends group will have thousands of hardcovers for sale for $1 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day.  Books will be sold at 1/2 price from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, November 6th.  From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 7th, you'll be able to purchase a whole bag of books for only $2 a bag - and you can bring your own bag if you'd like.  Stop by and pick up a bunch of good books to get you through the winter!

Book Club Meets Thursday

Join us at noon on Thursday, October 29th, for a book discussion.  We'd love to have you join us!

School's Out Movie Day

Join us Friday for a wonderful live-action Disney movie.  "Despite being bullied by her stepmother and stepsisters, a spirited Ella refuses to despair or retaliate, choosing instead to honor her mother's last words: 'Have courage and be kind.'"  There are over 50 OWWL holds on this 2015 movie, but you don't need to wait.  Come see it Friday morning, and we'll provide the refreshments.  Call the library (483-9292) for more information.

Books-Sandwiched-In October 20th

Join the Friends of the Sodus Community Library at noon on Tuesday, October 20th, for a Books-Sandwiched-In luncheon featuring our favorite book reviewer, Jean Seymour.  Jean will be sharing her thoughts on Pulitzer Prize winner All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.  Reservations are required as seating is limited.  Stop by the Library at 17 Maple Avenue or call us at (315) 483-9292 to reserve your spot.

Library Board Meets Thursday

The monthly meeting of the Sodus Community Library Board of Trustees will be held at 4 p.m. this Thursday, October 8th, in our Ruth Mills local history room.  Board meetings are open to the public.

Five-Minute Finds

Have you explored the Ancestry YouTube channel?  There are several "Five-Minute Finds" that can help you explore our Ancestry Library Edition - and all are five minutes or less!  These are specifically about Library Edition.  Have fun searching!

Join Ms. Roxanne at 6:30 tomorrow night (Tuesday, September 29th) for PJ Storytime.  Remember to wear your pajamas and bring along a stuffed friend!

Our parking lot will be closed Wednesday, September 30th, and Thursday, October 1st, due to tree removal.  Parking will be available on the street or in the Village parking lot.  In addition, access to the building will be limited to the front, Maple Avenue, entrance for the greater part of both days.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Harvest Fest Saturday!

Come on down to the library tomorrow and help us celebrate Sodus Harvest Fest.  We'll have animals from Cracker Box Palace on the front lawn, LEGOs and board games in our community room, Lions Club members screening children's vision in our cafe lounge, and stories, book drawings, and a booth with free paperbacks from our Friends group.  Sodus is the place to be this Saturday!

Upcoming Books-Sandwiched-In

This announcement just came in from our Friends group:

"Books Sandwiched In" at the Sodus Community Library is restarting where it left off in the spring, inviting you to enjoy a sandwich (and dessert!) lunch while you hear about informative subject matters in a friendly setting.

The Tuesday, September 15th discussion will be a program by Bruce and Edie Farrington from Sodus Point on the everyday life of families from the 1800's in rural Wayne County.  Bruce is the Sodus Point Historian, and his wife, Edie, shares his love of history.  Edie grew up in the Clyde area, and her brother, Ron Winter, recently acquired seven diaries written by their great-great-grandfather.  He was a Civil War veteran and a farmer NE of Clyde; he traveled to Sodus, the Old Point, and went out rowing and fishing on the Bay, along with other travels.

The luncheon will be at noon (cost is $3.00), and the free presentation will start at 12:30 in the Library's community room.  Stop by at 17 Maple Avenue to sign up at the front desk, or call (315) 483-9292 to reserve your spot.  Seating is limited to 30 for lunch, plus an additional 10 for the program.  We hope to see you there!
