To Visit or Not?

The snow is still falling, and the wind is still howling!

If you need a new book or video or just need to get out, come see us.  (Just remember that if the Sodus School District is closed due to weather, we also close.)  If you want to stay inside, but have something due, you can renew online.  If you don't have computer access at home, give us a call and we'll do the renewal for you.  If someone has a hold on a title, of course, we will not be able to renew your item.

Weather Closing

Restore Library Aid Funding in the FY14-15 Budget!

State library aid is now at 1997 levels, and $20M less than state Education Law mandates. Libraries are a core piece of our state’s educational system, yet in a year where education funding increased 3.8%, library funding suffered a 4.7% reduction. Merely restoring the $4M cut by Governor Cuomo still leaves library funding drastically short of the $102M mandated in education law, and reverses years of progress towards full funding. Despite the talents and dedication of librarians across the state, it is becoming increasingly difficult to provide 21st century libraries with 20th century funding.

Game Day Friday

Bring the family to the library this Friday, February 21st, between 1 and 4, for Game Day.  We have several card and board games for all ages available, but you may also bring your own - we love to learn new games!

The monthly meeting of the Sodus Community Library Board of Trustees will be held at 4 p.m. this Thursday, February 13th.  Board meetings are open to the public.

Valentine's Chocolate Sale Next Week

It's almost here - the Friends of the Sodus Community Library are getting ready for next week's Valentine Chocolate Sale!  There will be all sorts of cookies, candies, fudge, snack mix, cakes, and more.  I hear there will also be some craft items available.

Sale hours are Thursday, February 13th, from 10-7 and Friday, February 14th, from 10-4.  If you have some spare time, donations of goodies will be gratefully accepted.

Library Closing Early

The Library will be closing at 2 p.m. today, February 5th, because of the storm. PJ Storytime will be rescheduled for next Wednesday, February 12th. Be careful out there!

Our Community Reads!

PJ Story Hour is this Wednesday evening, February 5th, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. We'll have read-alouds, free books, crafts, learning activities and a healthy Valentine's Day treat.

Weather Closing

Not Opening Friday

We will not be opening today - Friday, January 3rd - because of continued hazardous road conditions (and staff sick and/or snowed in).  We are sorry for the inconvenience.  Stay in if you can, and enjoy an extra fine-free day.  We'll dig out and plan to see you tomorrow.

Weather Closing

We are closed due to the blizzard.  No overdue fines will be charged today.  Please stay in where it's safe and warm.  If you still have a commute ahead of you, please be careful - the roads are filled with snow and visibility is poor.
