Decorate Gingerbread!

Kids can join Ms. Roxanne at 11 a.m. this Friday, December 23rd, to decorate gingerbread cookies.  Keep some for yourself or give them away!

Early Closing Thursday

Sodus Central schools are closing at 1 p.m. this afternoon (Thursday, December 15th), and the Library will be closing at 3 p.m. due to the blizzard in the forecasts.  We will be extending your due dates, so no fines will be added for today.  You can still download an eBook or audiobook from OWWL2go, or a magazine from Zinio.  If you can, stay off the roads!

Holiday Bake Sale

Join us for our annual Holiday Bake Sale from 10-7 on Thursday, December 15, and 10-4 on Friday, December 16.  Our Friends will have all kinds of holiday goodies for sale, including cookies, cakes, pies, muffins, candies, breads, snack mix, and more.  Pick up presents for others, or just shop to treat yourself - we won't tell!  If you're in the baking mood, donations will be gratefully accepted starting Wednesday between noon and 7, and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

In our Digital Archive I found this article, which appeared on page 3 of The Wayne County Alliance (Sodus, N.Y., Wednesday, April 3, 1895).  It was another 25 years before ratification of the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote!

Time For Harvest Fest!

Don't forget to join us for Harvest Fest Fun starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday, September 24th).  Over 80 vendors are setting up booths along Main Street, and you'll see classic cars down Maple Avenue in front of the library.  On our lawn, we'll have pumpkin bowling, pumpkin tic tac toe, a candy corn guess, and a fall craft.  Children can also pick up a free book from our Friends of the Library group!

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Books-Sandwiched-In Luncheon

The Friends of the Sodus Community Library have scheduled an interesting subject for their first BSI of the season:  "Ling Eaters and Other Strange Fish!"  Bruce Farrington will share several quirky stories of Sodus Point - the horse that drank beer??? - on Tuesday, September 20th.  The luncheon starts promptly at noon, with Bruce's talk immediately following.  Reservations are required; call us at (315) 483-9292 or stop by the library to reserve your spot.
