TWO OF A KIND Moving and Grooving at the Library Tuesday, July 19th!

Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a free family concert by an award-winning husband and wife team, TWO OF A KIND.  David and Jenny Heitler-Klevans have released nine recordings - eight for children & families, and one for adults, plus a DVD. Their recordings have won a total of 16 national awards, including 5 Parents' Choice Awards and 8 Children's Music Web Awards.  TWO OF A KIND delights audiences of all ages with their music, good humor and audience participation.

We're grateful to the Friends of the Sodus Community Library for sponsoring this event!  The music starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19th.  (If it's raining, we'll move inside to our community room.)

Library Board Meets Thursday

The annual organizational meeting of the Sodus Community Library Board of Trustees will be held at 4 p.m. this Thursday, July 14th, in our community room.  The Board's monthly meeting will follow immediately after the annual meeting.  Board meetings are open to the public.

Annual Paperback Sale This Week!

The Friends of the Sodus Community Library are in our community room busily sorting out boxes and boxes of books for their annual paperback sale.  Sale hours are:

Thursday, June 16th - 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday, June 17th (1/2 price day) - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday, June 18th ($2/bag day) - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition to thousands of paperbacks, there will be DVDs, VHS tapes, puzzles, and games available.  You don't want to miss this sale!

Library Board Meets Thursday

The monthly meeting of the Sodus Community Library Board of Trustees will be held at 4 p.m. this Thursday, June 9th, in our Ruth Mills local history room.  Board meetings are open to the public.

June 7th is Movie Night!

 Join us at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7th, for a free movie, snacks, and drinks.  You're sure to enjoy this classic Disney movie that's fun for the whole family:

Successful Vote

Our budget vote passed with 44 yes votes and 8 no votes; Janet Englert and Amy Thatcher each received 49 votes.  Thank you to all who voted!

Library Budget Vote Wednesday

The Sodus Community Library's annual budget vote and trustee election will be held from noon until 9 p.m. this Wednesday, June 1st, in our community room.  Because of new regulations, we will be voting by paper ballot.

The increase you will be voting on will raise your tax levy by less than 1 cent per $1,000 assessed value (a total of approximately 43 1/2 cents on a home assessed at $50,000, 87 cents on a home assessed at $100,000).  In addition, there are two people running for two trustee positions.  If you have any questions about the budget or the trustee positions, please call (315) 483-9292 or stop by the library at 17 Maple Avenue.

Books-Sandwiched-In

The Friends of the Sodus Community Library have a great program coming up!  Join us for Books-Sandwiched-In at noon on Tuesday, April 19th, for a presentation on "Native Plants" by Master Gardener Kathryn Franz.  She'll discuss why adding native perennials, grasses, ferns, and ground covers is becoming so popular among home gardeners.  Add beauty to your landscape and provide food and habitat for wildlife while saving time and money.  Plant native!

You have another chance to play with Ozobots!  Join us at 6 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, April 5th) and learn how to control these tiny robots with color coding.

School's Out - Visit Your Library!

There's no school this week, but there's lots going on at the Sodus Community Library!

Ms. Roxanne's Minecraft Club meets tonight (Tuesday, March 29th) at 6 p.m.  Bring your device, or use our computer if you have a Minecraft account.

Wednesday, March 30th, come watch a dinosaur movie on our big screen (title clue: he's not a Bad Dinosaur!).  The fun starts at 1 p.m.; snacks and drinks will be provided.

We have a special event scheduled for Friday, April 1st.  Come at 11 a.m. and become a maker of technology, not just a user, at our hands-on Ozobot program.  You'll control these tiny robots using simple combinations of red, green, blue and black - with marker on paper!  We guarantee you'll have fun!

Join our Friends for an exciting Books-Sandwiched-In, our first in 2016!  On March 15th, Bill and Rita Lesniak will be discussing their recent trip to China.  The luncheon starts at noon in our Community Room; a donation of $3 will cover the cost of your meal.  The Lesniak's travelogue will begin at approximately 12:30.  We hope you'll consider staying after the program to attend the monthly Friends meeting.

Postponed Board Meeting This Thursday

The February meeting of the Sodus Community Library Board of Trustees, postponed because of last week's closing, will be held at 4 p.m. this Thursday, February 18th.  Board meetings are open to the public.

Weather Closes Library Again

The Library will not open today (Tuesday, February 16th) because of the storm.  Loans will be extended - everything due today will now be due tomorrow.  Please stay off the roads if you can!

Holiday Closing

The Sodus Community Library will be closed Monday, February 15th, in honor of Presidents' Day.  Your account, our OWWL catalog, OWWL2go downloadable audiobooks, eBooks and magazines, the Mango Language courses, HeritageQuest, and our digital newspapers are all available 24/7.

Weather Closing

The Sodus Community Library is closed today (Thursday, February 11th), due to the snowstorm.  Our Friends Valentine Chocolate Sale has been postponed until tomorrow, February 12th, and Saturday, February 13th.  The roads are treacherous (when you can see them!), so please stay inside where you'll be safe.

Valentine’s Day celebrates all the caring, sweet things we do or say all year long. And nothing says “I Love You" or even “Thank you” better than chocolate or a special baked treat! The Sodus Community Library’s Valentine Chocolate Sale is a good place to pick up a valentine treat to give to a loved one, or just to show someone your appreciation. 

Our annual sale will be held Thursday, February 11^th from 10:00 – 7:00 and Friday the 12^th from 10:00 – 4:00.  (If the school is closed due to weather, then the library is also closed, and we will hold the sale Friday the 13^th and Saturday the 14^th.)  Each and every treat, whether it be pie, cake, cookies, fudge, muffin candy, cupcakes, snack mix, etc. is wrapped as a gift even if you are simply treating yourself. 

This is a fun event that you don’t want to miss, and your support helps the Library.  Baked good donations are gratefully accepted and may be dropped off starting Wednesday, February 10^th and at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday the 11^th.  We hope to see you at the Library soon, and let us know if you have any questions by calling 315-483-9292.
