It's Official!

We closed at 8 p.m. last night, and hope to re-open on July 15th.  The driveway and bookdrop are closed. If you have anything to return, you will need to go to one of our neighboring Wayne County libraries.  If you have an outstanding hold, you can access your OWWL account online and edit the pickup location to one of those libraries.  Please be aware that you will need to present your library card to be able to check out items at most of these libraries.

It's Crunch Time!

After the Memorial Day weekend, the library will be open through June 6th. After that date, our contractors need us to be out of the building. There will be no access to any of our materials other than OWWL2go downloadables, to the driveway, or to our book drop. Holds may be placed, but you will want to choose another library for pickup. Nothing will be due during the time we're closed, so loan periods will be longer than usual - as a matter of fact, any 3-week titles taken out starting today, including books, audiobooks, magazines, and DVD sets, will have a due date of July 15th. What a great time to watch one of those long TV series or to listen to an audiobook with 26 discs! We hope that the July 15th date is when we will be reopening, but will let you know when that date is firm. We realize that this closing will prove inconvenient to many, and thank you for your patience. We're almost there!

Holiday Closing

The Library will be closed Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 25, through Monday, May 27,
reopening at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28.  As always, you will be able to access our catalog, your OWWL account, and OWWL2go downloadable eBooks and audiobooks.

Caution - Construction Zone!

This week we will be having work done on the entrance to our driveway, and there will be times when you will not be able to drive into the parking lot.  When that happens, you may park on the street.  We will open the front door during these times, so you can enter the building from the Maple Avenue side if you park on that street, in addition to entering through the main entrance if you walk to the library.  Please call to let us know if this presents a problem for you (there are steps up to the front door), and we will help in any way we can.  When the Smith Street driveway is open, please drive in and enter the library from the main entrance door only, as usual.  Thank you all for your patience as we work through this construction!

We're Way Beyond the "Pardon Our Dust" Stage!

Almost half of our nonfiction section is in boxes.  Imagine yourself living out of a pile of suitcases day after day and you'll begin to know how we feel!  Thank you all for your patience as we work through our expansion.  And how dedicated is our staff, still filling holds from these piles?

It will be getting worse before it gets better, but when "better" gets here, I think you'll love it.  There will be a few times in the next couple of months when we will close to facilitate the expansion; for example, we won't be open when the driveway, parking lots, and curbing are being done, when we move our circulation area into the addition, nor during a short renovation period when all of our books will be unavailable.  We will keep any closings to a minimum, and ask for your continued patience during this time.  Dates when we'll be closed will be announced as soon as we know them.
