Local Newspapers Now Searchable

We have exciting news!  You can now click here to access 101 years of our local newspapers, The Wayne County Alliance and The Record.  The papers included are from 1876 to 1977.  They are searchable by topic, name, subject, etc., or you can browse by month and/or year.  You can clip articles of interest, download complete pages, or print what you find.  In my searches I've been able to find wedding, birth, and graduation announcements, obituaries of family members, interesting news articles, plus many "who visited whom" tidbits.  Click the link above and discover some of your family's local history!

Christmas Week Hours

The Wondermakers Return

Bring the whole family to the library at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15th, for an entertaining holiday performance from the Wondermakers!  The kids are sure to enjoy the acting and fun that comes with this program.  There will be lots of audience participation at this show!

Library Board Meets Thursday

 The monthly meeting of the Sodus Community Library Board of Trustees will be held at 4 p.m. this Thursday, December 10th, in our community room.  Board meetings are open to the public.

Our Minecraft Club meets at 6:30 tonight (Tuesday, December 8th).  Bring your own device with the app installed, or take a turn using our iPad.  You can also use our computers if you have a paid Minecraft account.  Come build with us!

We're thankful during this holiday season for the Sodus Intermediate students (and their teachers!) who put together this Awakening Tree for our community. When you stop by the library, take time to read a few of the quotes written on the leaves, and choose a meaningful one to pass on to someone. There's no better time for a simple act of kindness!

Movie Night!

Join Ms. Roxanne at 6 p.m. tonight - Tuesday, November 24th - for an emotion-filled movie for the whole family.  Free popcorn and beverages will be provided.  There are currently 96 holds on this movie, but you can see it tonight on our big screen!

Thanksgiving Week Hours

Book Sale!

Our annual used book sale starts Thursday, November 5th.  Our Friends group will have thousands of hardcovers for sale for $1 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day.  Books will be sold at 1/2 price from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, November 6th.  From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 7th, you'll be able to purchase a whole bag of books for only $2 a bag - and you can bring your own bag if you'd like.  Stop by and pick up a bunch of good books to get you through the winter!

School's Out Movie Day

Join us Friday for a wonderful live-action Disney movie.  "Despite being bullied by her stepmother and stepsisters, a spirited Ella refuses to despair or retaliate, choosing instead to honor her mother's last words: 'Have courage and be kind.'"  There are over 50 OWWL holds on this 2015 movie, but you don't need to wait.  Come see it Friday morning, and we'll provide the refreshments.  Call the library (483-9292) for more information.

Books-Sandwiched-In October 20th

Join the Friends of the Sodus Community Library at noon on Tuesday, October 20th, for a Books-Sandwiched-In luncheon featuring our favorite book reviewer, Jean Seymour.  Jean will be sharing her thoughts on Pulitzer Prize winner All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.  Reservations are required as seating is limited.  Stop by the Library at 17 Maple Avenue or call us at (315) 483-9292 to reserve your spot.
